I developed the capability to base a proposed funding topic on research I was coming across, and these skills become important in the work force, because developing the capacity to work individually and find sources is a positive skill to have.
[2] ability for project identification and proposal development
I felt it was important that we gather as a group, and together we successfully researched project ideas. In the end we identified that there are many gaps apparent when it comes to males mental health, and this then led to the proposed idea developing that we look into ways we can close the gap on men struggling with mental health when going through the family court process.
[3] ability to investigate possible funding bodies
I gained the ability to investigate a given topic which in our case was mens mental health, and the transferability of skills applicable is perhaps at work you will be asked to research a certain topic and then provide feedback to your manager or work alongside colleagues and conduct research, the skill to be able to brain storm and think of bodies that could provide funding is essential because fundraisers are a common event that work places hold now a days. Therefore this skill is important.
[4] possession of knowledge and familiarity with requirements of funding bodies (as relates to your project).
I knew from prior knowledge that there was a flaw in the way the Family Court operates. Having worked for NSW Police Force, males will often come into the police station and females as well discussing their concerns for their children who are with the other parent right now. And this lead me to thinking that perhaps the mental health of men is something that society does not discuss enough. I felt like proposing funding for such an important issue was crucial.
